'One-two gut punch': WE scandal has Canadians more skeptical of charities and COVID has them less able to donate, poll finds
REPORT September 17th

"This is a scandal that's reverberated far beyond the corridors of the House of Commons or the corporate offices of WE."

An Angus Reid poll, conducted in a partnership with Cardus, Charitable Impact, Imagine Canada, Philanthropic Foundations Canada, United Way and Canada Helps, suggests that troubles Canadians who donate to charity — and is troubling to charities themselves, who are facing a “double whammy” of the WE scandal and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Think tank wants governments to lauch donation-matching programs for charities
REPORT April 15th

Cardus is calling on the government to help charities during the COVID-19 pandemic, reports the Toronto Sun.

“The draw on charities is the highest when the economic situation is at its lowest,” says Brian Dijkema, Cardus Vice President of External Affairs. “The challenge in this particular case, though, is that charities are also finding it the toughest to draw and raise funds that they need to provide those services. So we think there’s an opportunity for the government and society to play a role.”
