When we consider the economic wellbeing of families, factors such as housing prices, employment rates, or student debt first come to mind. Yet growing evidence suggests that how Canadians form families influences economic wellbeing. Family formation contributes to not only to individual economic wellbeing, but also to the economic health of the nation.

Join us in Ottawa, May 29th for an evening reception featuring Dr. W. Bradford Wilcox, Senior Fellow at the Institute for Family Studies, Director of the National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia, who will present cutting edge research regarding the family. Explore the connection between family structure and well-being in relation to the class divide in the US and Canada. Examine the destabilizing effect that the decline of marriage has had on the working class family. Consider how the state, market and culture influence the wellbeing of families today.
